Labor Day weekend gives us four days instead of three, and Lee County is filling all four. Here are five real things to do between Friday and Monday.
September Art Walk in Downtown Fort Myers
Friday, Sept. 4, 5 to 9 p.m.
Historic River District, First Street and Hendry Street, Fort Myers
More than 60 artists spread out along the closed-off streets of the River District to show, sell and demonstrate their work. Free, and easy to bring the kids to.
Jimmy Buffett Day
Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7, noon to 11 p.m. daily
Margaritaville Beach Resort, 251 Crescent Street, Fort Myers Beach
Four days of island music and beach food, open to the public as well as resort guests. A dollar from every Sunshine State of Mind and Caribbean Heat cocktail goes to My Autism Connection.
Taste of Latino Festival: Empanada Smackdown
Saturday, Sept. 5, noon to 5 p.m.
Centennial Park, 2000 W. First St., Fort Myers
The fourth year of this free Hispanic Heritage Month festival brings live music and dance, a Top Latino Chef contest, an empanada cook-off and the 2026 Florida Latino and Latina Líderes awards.
Food Truck Wars at Slipaway
Sunday, Sept. 6, noon to 6 p.m.
Slipaway Food Truck Park and Marina, 1811 Cape Coral Parkway E., Cape Coral
Every truck at the park cooks a dish around the same surprise ingredient. You taste, you vote for People’s Choice, and celebrity judges hand out awards at 5:30 p.m.
Goodwill Labor Day Sale
Monday, Sept. 7, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Goodwill Southwest Florida, 4950 Challenger Blvd., Fort Myers
One day only: half off donated items at Goodwill SWFL stores, and 25 percent off at the Blue Boutiques. A good excuse to shop the holiday and put the money to work locally.
