Fort Myers is throwing a birthday party for the country this Fourth of July, and everyone is invited. On Saturday, July 4, the downtown riverfront will fill with families celebrating America’s 250th year.

The celebration starts at 6:30 p.m. near 2101 Edwards Drive. The evening brings live music, a glowing drone show, and a fireworks display over the Caloosahatchee River. It is a free, family-friendly way to mark the holiday in the heart of the River District.

Plan to arrive early for a good spot. Bring lawn chairs, water, and a little patience for holiday traffic. Downtown restaurants and shops will be open, so you can make a full evening of it.

If you would rather stay closer to home, Cape Coral hosts Red, White & BOOM! on Cape Coral Parkway, and Bonita Springs holds its Star Spangled Bonita celebration. Both start at 5:00 p.m. on July 4 and end with fireworks.

However you celebrate, take a moment this weekend to enjoy the community we share.
