The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reminds you to have fun and stay safe while road tripping this Spring Break. Whether you’re a Lee County resident traveling or you’re visiting for Spring Break, it’s important you prepare and stay aware!
Always have a travel plan and a backup plan. Be prepared to change your route. Your original travel plans may change between traffic, bad weather, or road closures. Be flexible and don’t panic.
Follow local traffic laws. They may be different from where you’re from! Before getting on the road, research traffic laws on the local DMV website. While driving in an unfamiliar area: rely on road signage, check speed limits, learn about “move over” laws and turn-on-red rules.
Always wear your seatbelt, even while vacationing! It’s the law. Wear it every trip, every time.
Keep all important documents close to you or on your person. Make sure you have your driver’s license, car insurance, and registration nearby. Know where they are in case you need them.
If you see something, say something! Report suspicious activity to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (239-477-1000) or to your local law enforcement agency.
