Midtown is about to look like a construction zone for a while, and the City of Fort Myers wants neighbors to hear the plan first.
The city is hosting a public information meeting on Thursday, September 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Collaboratory, 2031 Jackson Street. Staff will walk through Phase 1 of the Midtown Improvement Project and answer questions.
What Phase 1 covers
Most of the early work happens below the street. Crews will upgrade underground utilities, drainage and stormwater systems. Above ground, the phase brings new roadway and sidewalk work, street lighting, street furniture, landscaping and signage.
What it means for your drive
The city says drivers should expect temporary daytime lane closures while the work is underway. Barricades will be set up so the sidewalks next to businesses stay open. Mail delivery and trash pickup may shift on some days, and the city plans to give advance notice when a service change is coming.
