Downtown Fort Myers Farmers Market Grows to More Than 70 Vendors

The Saturday farmers market in downtown Fort Myers is about to get a lot bigger.

Starting Saturday, October 3, the Fort Myers Culinary District Farmers Market kicks off its fall season with more than 70 returning and new vendors. The market will also spread out over a larger part of downtown. The City will hold an opening bell ceremony at 9 a.m. to mark the day.

The market began as a new City event in the Culinary District. It did so well that the City kept it going every Saturday through the summer. Now it is growing for the busy season.

What you’ll find

Shoppers can pick up fresh bread and baked goods, fruits and vegetables, cheese, nuts, fresh juice, spices, plants and flowers. There are also booths for organic skin care, clothing and jewelry.

When to go

The market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City suggests making a morning of it. Walk the shops, stay for breakfast or lunch at a Culinary District restaurant, or take a stroll along the riverfront.

Parking tip

Through October 31, the first two hours are free in the City’s three downtown garages: City of Palms, Main Street and the Luminary Hotel garage. That covers most market trips. The third hour is $3, and each hour after that is $1. Read more about the free parking pilot.
