Family Initiative will mark the completed expansion of Thrive Academy with a ribbon cutting and campus tour on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 9:30 a.m.

Thrive Academy is a K-12 private school in Cape Coral for students diagnosed on the autism spectrum. The renovated building raises how many students the school can enroll. It also adds room for Applied Behavior Analysis and Occupational Therapy services, along with Family Initiative’s community programs.

The ceremony includes remarks from parents of Thrive Academy students and a guided tour of the expanded campus, which was built with sensory-friendly features.

The CDC estimates that 1 in 31 children in the United States are diagnosed on the autism spectrum. The expansion answers growing demand across Southwest Florida for specialized schooling and therapy for children and teens with autism. Florida’s Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities helps families cover the cost.

The campus is at 3221 Chiquita Blvd. S, Building 1, in Cape Coral. More information about Family Initiative is at fi-florida.org.
