Registration opened Oct. 1 for the Creative Living Competition at the Southwest Florida Ag Expo, a free contest for handmade work, art and homegrown talent.
The competition is open to adults and youth, and entrants do not need to belong to 4-H or FFA. There are eight divisions:
- Fabric & Threads: quilts, embroidery and textiles
- Handcraft: woodworking, jewelry and other handmade pieces
- Cottage Food: homemade foods that meet Florida’s Cottage Food Law
- Fine Art: original paintings, drawings and mixed media
- Photography: nature, people and special moments
- Tablescape: decorative table settings
- Home Gardening & Horticulture: floral arrangements, plants and garden designs
- S.T.E.A.M.: science, technology, engineering, art and math projects
Residents of Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Desoto, Glades and Hendry counties may enter. Work has to be original and cannot have been shown at a previous SWFL Ag Expo. Entrants register through Showman.app by 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, and each exhibitor gets one general admission ticket to the Expo.
The Creative Living exhibits will be on display throughout the Southwest Florida Ag Expo, which runs Feb. 25 through March 7 at Mike Greenwell Regional Park, 11831 Bayshore Road. The park was formerly the Lee County Civic Center Complex. The 2027 theme is “Make a Splash at the SWFL Ag Expo.”
Rules, division details and the rulebook are at swflagexpo.com. Sponsorship opportunities, including event and livestock sponsorships, are listed under the Sponsors tab on the same site.
