Cape Coral has a new place to play, and the city is throwing open the gates this Friday.
The ribbon cutting for Festival Park is set for Friday, August 14, at 9 a.m. at 2609 NW 11th Court. It is open to the public and you do not need a reservation to come.
The park was built to do two jobs. On a normal weekend it is a set of multi use sports fields for local teams and practices. On a big weekend it becomes festival grounds, with room for the kind of large community events that used to need a borrowed parking lot.
The site also has a building with concessions and restrooms. Crews put in the electrical work for an amphitheater, so live music and outdoor shows are on the table down the road.
City officials will take part in Friday’s ribbon cutting. For more details, reach out to the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department.
