July is Park and Recreation Month, and the City of Fort Myers is marking it with free entry, discounts, and special events all month long. This year’s theme is “The Power Of Parks and Recreation.”
The celebration reaches many of the city’s favorite spots, including the Aquatic Center, the Racquet Club, the city golf courses, the Riverside Community Center, and the Skatium. It is a good month to try something new or take the family somewhere you have not been in a while.
“Our parks, programs and amenities continue to bring families, friends and neighbors together, helping residents stay active, connect with nature and enjoy meaningful experiences throughout the year,” said Elgin Hicks, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Fort Myers.
One event to circle on the calendar is a community tree giveaway at Roberto Clemente Park on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. City Council also plans to mark the month with a resolution on July 20.
